Bio

Natalie Tenenbaum was born August 28th, 1984 in Los Angeles, California. She started out studying piano at age 6 with her mother.  At 16, while attending a summer program at Berklee on a full scholarship, Natalie was awarded the highest scholarship awarded that year to attend the school as a full-time student. Natalie opted instead to move to New York, where she auditioned and received a scholarship to study at The Juilliard School. At Juilliard, Natalie studied Piano Performance with professor Julian Martin, as well as conducting with Maestro Vincent La Selva and music theory with professor Samuel Zyman, among others. Natalie graduated with a Bachelors in Music from The Juilliard School in 2007.

While at Juilliard, in 2006, Natalie toured across Europe as pianist with the Youth Orchestra Of the Americas. She also performed as soloist with Israel Symphony Orchestra, and gave recitals and solo performances at Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center, Jerusalem Music Center, Carnegie Hall, among other venues. Following her graduation from Juilliard, Natalie toured in Europe, South Korea, China, Israel and the United States as pianist and conductor for various shows and productions, appearing in venues such as New York’s Apollo Theater, the Blue Note, Madison Square Garden, Korea’s National Theater, Dusseldorf Opera House and more.

An accomplished composer, Natalie premiered her original solo-piano arrangements and compositions at Carnegie Hall in December 2009, at Harvard, Merkin Hall, The National Arts Gallery, at Juilliard’s Paul Hall and in Israel. She has been studying composition with Distinguished Professor Tania Leon as well as with the renowned teacher of “Real Time Composition”, Opher Brayer. As of 2011, Natalie has been a member of the prestigious BMI Lehman-Engel Workshop as a composer.

An avid performer of chamber music and new music, Natalie is excited to be part of New York’s emerging EMP ensemble, premiering and performing new works by international contemporary composers as well as her own works. The ensemble’s premiere will be on Dec. 4th 2011 at New York’s DiMenna Center and will feature Natalie as pianist performing pieces by composers Jason Eckart and Philippe Manoury. Natalie will also be featured as soloist with the Israel Chamber Orchestra on December 23rd, performing Tomer Adaddi’s Piano Concerto No. 1.

Natalie is currently recording her debut record, which will feature her original compositions as well as arrangements for solo piano and for a trio setting. The record is scheduled to be released in January 2012. Natalie is also working on the music for a New York film project based on Puccini’s La Boheme, set to be released in 2012. Natalie has been awarded scholarships from America-Israel cultural foundation and the Ronen Foundation.
